Occasionally prescriptions are written for dosages not readily available or for medical compounds that require mixing.  Denton Drug has a compounding room where we are able to meet all of your special needs by preparing medicines and dosages to the specifications of your prescription.  

For example, hormone replacement therapy drugs are tailored to the patient's specific needs.  Also, many of our capsules, suspensions, syrups, suppositories and creams can be prepared preservative free and dye free for patients who may suffer from these types of allergies. We also can combine medicines into one cream for patients needing multiple topical drugs to treat a problem, simplifying the healing process.

Some medicinal compounds are no longer manufactured in bulk by drug manufacturers due to low demand. These have to be produced on an individual basis as needed by our customers.

Vet prescriptions are written for a range of animal weights and sometimes require adjusting in the compound room to ensure the proper dosage for an animal's breed and size. 

Some medicines are bitter by nature which deems them difficult to take, particularly for children.  We can flavor most liquids and powders with one of several flavors, making medicines more palpable.  We even add a meat flavor to dogs' meds and a fish flavor to cats' medicines.  What's your favorite flavor?
